Well, welcome to my new website. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my old domain–stomps.org–back because some company decided to buy it up after I stopped renewing my registration, so I’ve moved to this domain instead. The main reason I felt like I should get this domain (instead of using my old blog at BootsAll was really just consolidation. I needed one location where people could access my pictures, travel journals, and blog during my travels abroad next year.
There’s not a whole lot up and running on the site at the moment, since I’m pretty busy in my last semester of school. I’ve got a simple photo gallery that displays the shots I have uploaded to my Flickr page within this website (and with some pretty fancy effects, I might add). I’m still working on a layout for my travel journals, since I want them to be seen in the way that the limits of IgoUgo have never allowed me to. I will get these posted before I leave for New Zealand on January 20, but I will probably spend my free time until the end of the semester trying to get new journals written for the various places I’ve been this year. (Until then, check out my travel journals here.) I’m also going to post maps of various trips and whatever else I can think of to make this a more interesting site.
Now for the main point of this blog: travel. Those that know me know that I’m obsessed, so this blog will be my outlet for when they get sick of listening to me. As I’ve mentioned, I’m going to New Zealand in January for an extended backpacking trip (or at least, extended compared to my three weeks there in early 2005). I plan on being there at least until May, when I’m heading over to Australia for hopefully a much more extended period. While I’m there, I’ll post here about traveling and how life is going in general as an expat; until then, I’ll probably just ramble about preparations for NZ and other completely unrelated topics. Hopefully I’ll do better than I did in posting to my BootsnAll blog, which got updated once a month at most!
